Create a brand for the new web service IRL Galaxy. It is an engine which allows it's users to build their own location-based community online. It integrates various social media with interactive maps to create a rich collaborative experience. Find the appropriate visual language that can communicate this complex product to a broad public.
We started with the idea of a map. From there we expanded outward, creating illustrations, complex maps, and diagrams. We decided that as the product itself is quite complex and abstract, the design should compliment this with simplicity. Therefore we reduced down to the basic aspect of the service. You Are Here. The dot. The identity is dynamic, changing on different items in both configuration and color, while maintaining a strong sense of personality. Using the simplified visual language we created a line of illustrations and icons which aid in communication. The result we hope is a clear and simple brand.
