Project M : Think Wrong
By Ryan
“Project M is an intensive summer program designed to inspire young graphic designers, writers, photographers and other creative people that their work can have a positive and significant impact on the world.”
Every year a small group of young creative people gather in a rural location for an intensive week of social design thinking. The project began in Hale County, Alabama in 1993 when the Aubern Rural Studio was established there by two architecture professors from Aubern University to help the poor surrounding community which is one of the poorest in the state. Originally it was strictly an architecture endeavor, but has since grown to incorporate many other means of social development.
Each year the group develops a project. The project from 2007 was called Buy a Meter, and illuminated the fact that many residents of the area can not afford to have clean running water in their houses. The result was a newspaper sized magazine which communicated the message with images and simple text. You can visit www.buyameter.org and buy a meter for a family.

Aside from Hale County M’ers have been to Ghana, Costa Rica, Baltimore, and Maine, with the message of proactive empowerment.
The Rural Studio structure is open for any groups who would like to do social projects in Hale County, and it’s use is (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). If you’d like to attend Project M you get learn more and download the application here.
